Ethiopian Journal of Religious Studies (EJRS) is a peer-reviewed journal committed to the academic exploration, analysis and interpretation, from a range of disciplinary perspectives, of the interrelations and interactions between religions and traditional faiths in Ethiopia and how it relates with its surrounding nations, and to an accurate and fair representation of their beliefs, values and practices through the publication of research articles, essays and opinions, review articles, and book reviews.
EJRS seek to publish works of the highest quality sharing the theme and ideals of the Journal in publishing the very best scholarship in Ethiopian religious studies, to fostering new work in neglected areas, and to stimulating exchange on significant issues.
EJRS promotes the study of religious groups and beliefs among the people of Ethiopia, past and present, with emphasis on the current changing landscape at home and in the world. With high quality international contributors the journal explores religion and its related subjects along with debates on contemporary issues.
Articles in the EJRS are not restricted to any single religious tradition or definition of religion, or to any single disciplinary approach. Both “theological” interpretations, and analyses which explore the intersection between Faith, Theology, Religion, and Traditional Studies in all their diversity, are encouraged. Religion may be conceived in terms of the expression of core beliefs and values, constructed in dialogue between the individual and culture, including traditional culture, or purely as a cultural construction.
