MISSION & HISTORY | WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE | 10 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT US
Tsehai Publishers was established with the belief that works of literary fiction and serious nonfiction are both necessary and desirable, and that an innovative and aggressive model of publishing can fill a void in today’s marketplace, allowing works of quality to be published both profitably and well, especially for first time authors and those who come from an under-served community of writers.
As we select our manuscripts carefully and work very hard to the highest editorial quality, we also offer a wealth of beautifully designed books to devour with pleasure, or to give as thoughtful gifts. Our award winning books cover a wide range of subjects, from a fascinating biography of the famous anti-fascist activist, to a profound collection of essays and memoir from the 1860’s British expedition to Africa, as well as splendid first time English translation of the 16th century Arabic text of Futuh al Habash.
Devoted entirely to supporting and fostering such works, each Tsehai Publishers’ imprints are editorially independent and individually focused, and all are committed to publishing books in that manner. Our distinction lies in the fact that our conditions for publication are more than editorial or intellectual quality and wide appeal - a major concern is the cultural, political, social, historical and ethical content of our books.
We are, naturally, committed to maximizing the impact of our titles by ensuring their effective distribution in North America, Europe and Africa. While our books are being distributed by Ingram and Baker & Taylor in the U.S., we also attach a high priority to arranging co-editions of our books in particular countries and regions, as well as foreign language editions where possible. Some of our books are published in association with other organizations, including international educational institutes, non-governmental organizations and other publishers.
